Getting a generator can be a wise investment for several reasons:

  • Power Outages: Generators provide backup power during blackouts or emergencies. This ensures that essential appliances like refrigerators, heating/cooling systems, lights, and medical equipment continue to function, keeping you comfortable and safe.

  • Business Continuity: If you run a business, having a generator can prevent downtime during power outages, allowing operations to continue uninterrupted. This can be crucial for businesses that rely heavily on electronic systems or refrigeration.

  • Home Comfort: With a generator, you can maintain comfort levels in your home during extended power outages. This includes keeping the lights on, running fans or air conditioning for climate control, and powering entertainment devices to keep your family occupied.

  • Safety and Security: Having power during emergencies enhances safety and security. You can keep security systems, motion-sensor lights, and alarms operational, deterring potential intruders. Additionally, having power ensures you can charge your mobile devices for communication and access emergency services if needed.

  • Medical Needs: If anyone in your household relies on medical devices that require electricity, such as oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines, or refrigerated medications, a generator is essential to ensure continuous operation.

  • Remote Locations: If you live in a remote area where power outages are common or where utility infrastructure is less reliable, a generator can provide a consistent power source, making daily life more manageable.

  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that you have a backup power source in place can provide peace of mind, especially during severe weather events or other emergencies when power disruptions are likely.

  • Value for Property: Installing a generator can increase the value of your property, as it's seen as an attractive feature for potential buyers, particularly in areas prone to power outages.

Coastal Repair Solutions will help you consider factors such as fuel type (gasoline, propane, diesel), power output capacity, and runtime.

Generator Maintenance Service Plan

  • $325/Year

  • Twice Yearly Inspection and Maintenance of Generator

  • Includes Yearly Oil Change

Proper maintenance is essential to ensure that your Generac generator operates reliably and efficiently when needed. Here are some key maintenance tasks typically recommended for Generac generators:

  • Regular Inspection: Perform visual inspections of your generator regularly to check for any signs of damage, leaks, or loose connections. Look for oil or fuel leaks, loose bolts or screws, and signs of corrosion.

  • Oil Change: Just like with a car engine, regular oil changes are crucial for maintaining optimal performance and longevity. Generac recommends changing the oil and oil filter every 200 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Be sure to use the recommended oil type and viscosity specified in your generator's manual.

  • Air Filter Replacement: The air filter prevents dirt and debris from entering the engine and should be checked regularly. Depending on operating conditions, it may need to be cleaned or replaced more frequently. Generac recommends checking the air filter every 100 hours of operation or annually and replacing it as needed.

  • Spark Plug Replacement: The spark plug ignites the fuel-air mixture in the engine's combustion chamber. Over time, spark plugs can become fouled or worn, affecting engine performance. Generac recommends inspecting and replacing spark plugs every 200 hours of operation or annually.

  • Coolant Check: If your generator is liquid-cooled, regularly check the coolant level and condition. Top up the coolant as needed and flush and replace it according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

  • Battery Maintenance: Ensure that the battery is properly charged and in good condition, as it's essential for starting the generator. Keep the battery terminals clean and free of corrosion, and replace the battery as needed.

  • Fuel System Maintenance: Stale fuel can lead to starting problems or engine damage. Use fresh fuel and add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation. Generac recommends draining the fuel system if the generator will be out of service for an extended period.

  • Exercise the Generator: Generac recommends running the generator under load for about 10-15 minutes every month to ensure proper operation and prevent the buildup of moisture and deposits.

  • Professional Servicing: Generac recommends having your generator serviced by an authorized dealer or service provider, such as Coastal Repair Solutions.

Regular maintenance not only ensures reliable performance but also extends the life of your Generac generator.
